About US

Yudatek Composite Technology Co., Ltd. (YUDATEK), established in 2013, is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research, development, and manufacturing of advanced power transmission materials.

As globla power demand continues to surge, the efficiency of long-distance energy transmission has become a strategic priority. For over a century, traditional Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) has been the industry standard. While various advancements --- such as heat-resistant aluminum alloys, high-strength aluminum-clad steel, and Invar-clad steel conductors --- have been developed to increase capacity by enghancing thermal limits and conductivity, the ultimate goal remains the same: achieving safe, stable, and maximized transmission capacity.

Everaging years of expertise in the production and installation of carbon fiber composite cores, YUDATEK has conducted extensive R&D to address long-standing industry challenges. Our efforts have culminated in a specialized suite of high-performance solutions: Aluminum-clad Carbon Fiber Composite Stranded Core Conductor, Steel-clad Carbon Fiber COmposite Stranded Core Conductor, Invar-clad Carbon Fiber Composite Stranded Core Conductor.

  • Adoption and Future Outlook for CFCC Technology

The global shift from steel to carbon fiber composite cores in overhead transmission lines is gaining significant momentum, driven by grid modernization needs. While not yet the default, its adoption frequency is increasing, particularly in regions with ambitious renewable integration, capacity upgrades, and challenging terrains. Countries like the USA, Japan, China, and several in Europe are deploying CFCC-based conductors (often called ACCC® or similar) in targeted projects. Utilities use them for “reconductoring”—replacing old lines on existing towers to double capacity without new rights-of-way—and in new builds where reduced infrastructure is critical. The future outlook is exceptionally promising. As carbon fiber production scales and costs decrease, CFCC is poised to become the new standard for high-capacity, efficient, and resilient smart grids, enabling the secure transmission of clean energy over long distances.
  • The Carbon Fiber Composite Core (CFCC): A Game-Changing Advantage

Replacing the traditional steel core in overhead cables with a Carbon Fiber Composite Core (CFCC) offers transformative advantages, primarily addressing key limitations of ACSR. First, and most significantly, CFCC is much lighter (about 1/4 the weight) and stronger than steel. This allows for longer spans between towers, reducing the number needed and lowering installation costs. Second, CFCC has a much lower coefficient of thermal expansion. Unlike steel, which expands significantly when heated by electrical current, CFCC remains dimensionally stable. This eliminates “thermal sag”—the dangerous drooping of lines during peak load—enhancing grid safety and allowing up to twice the current capacity (ampacity) on existing towers without clearance issues. Furthermore, the composite core is highly resistant to corrosion, dramatically extending the cable’s service life.
  • The Anatomy of Today’s High-Voltage Overhead Lines

Modern high-voltage overhead transmission lines are engineered systems with a clear design. The core component is the conductor cable, typically made of aluminum strands chosen for its excellent conductivity and cost-effectiveness. However, aluminum alone lacks the necessary tensile strength for long spans between towers. To solve this, a central core of galvanized steel strands is embedded within the aluminum wires. This forms the ubiquitous Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) cable. The steel core provides the crucial mechanical strength to support the cable’s weight and withstand environmental loads like wind and ice. This composite structure has been the global standard for decades, offering a reliable balance of electrical and mechanical performance. The entire cable is often coated or designed with specific surface patterns to manage corona discharge and other electrical effects at high voltages.
